EWI Delegates Meet with United Nations Ambassador Gill
On August 2, 2018, a delegation from the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Digital Cooperation met with EWI’s President and CEO Ambassador Cameron Munter and representatives from the EastWest Institute’s Asia-Pacific (AP) and Global Cooperation in Cyberspace (Cyber) programs for an engaging discussion on emerging challenges in digital cooperation.
The panel, established by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on July 12, 2018, aims to highlight the societal and economic effects of digital technologies and to inspire a wider discussion on improving the digital space for the general public in the future. The panel delegation was led by Ambassador Amandeep Gill and Dr. Jovan Kurbalija, executive directors and secretariats of the panel. Ambassador Cameron Munter, along with Mr. Bruce McConnell, global vice president of the Cyber program and Dr. Lora Saalman, vice president of the AP program, led the EWI delegation. Other EWI participants included Farwa Aamer, Michael Depp, Yiyi Chen, Noel Gonzalez, Zoe Leung, Natalie Pretzer-Lin, Sam Reynolds, Anneleen Roggeman, Divya Ryan and Jace White.
