William J. Parker in Sonic Sea Documentary

William J. Parker III, Ph.D., COO of the EastWest Institute, appears in the new documentary “Sonic Sea.”
This 60-minute documentary explores the critical role of sound in the sea, and the sudden, dramatic changes human activity is inflicting on the ocean's delicate acoustic habitat—changes that threaten the ability of whales and other marine animals to prosper and to function.
Parker contributes perspective on how national security measures and environmental protection can—and should—co-exist and make progress without conflict. Parker joins noted on-screen contributors such as Ken Balcomb III; musician and environmental activist Sting; and Jean-Michel Cousteau. The film is narrated by actor Rachel McAdams.

Sonic Sea premiered on Thursday, May 19, on the Discovery Channel.
The film was produced by Daniel Hinerfeld and Michelle Dougherty with the cooperation of the Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC).
