Dr. Anna Tavis is a senior talent management, learning and organization development executive with a successful global career in business, academia and consulting.
She is currently the Executive Editor of People and Strategy Journal and an adjunct professor of Human Capital Management at New York University.
Dr. Tavis started her corporate career at Motorola where she led the Organizational Development function with responsibilities for Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA). She later transitioned to the Global Head of Talent Management role for Nokia and worked extensively in Europe, India, Eurasia and the Middle East.
Upon her return to the United States in 2005, Dr. Tavis led Global Learning and Development at United Technologies Corporation servicing over 215,000 employees in more than 70 countries. In 2007, she moved to New York City to join AIG Global Asset Management Group.
Most recently, Dr. Tavis headed Global Talent and Development at Brown Brothers Harriman with responsibilities for Integrated Talent Management, Diversity, OD and Executive Services.
Dr. Tavis served on the faculty of Williams College, Fairfield University and Columbia University. She wrote articles and reviews for professional journals, and her collection of edited essays, Point Counterpoint, New Perspectives on People and Strategy, has been published by Society for Human Resources Management in 2012. The Diversity Lecture Series, launched at Brown Brothers Harriman, received a national award from SIFMA (Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association).
In addition to EWI, Dr. Tavis is currently a board member of the Human Resource People and Strategy Association and a member of the Brain Trust at NeuroLeadership Institute.
