Ambassador Guenter Overfeld was EWI’s Vice President and Director of Regional Security and Preventive Diplomacy, serving as an Ambassador-at-Large on loan to EWI from the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Before joining EWI, Guenter was the Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Germany to UNESCO. His career includes a significant amount of time spent in Southwest Asia & the Middle East-- with assignments in Tehran, Baghdad, Ankara, and Islamabad. He has served as Consul General in Saigon and Deputy Head of Division, as well as Head of Division for UN Affairs, together with other postings in the US, Canada, and Berlin.
