South Asia is one of the most dynamic and geopolitically significant regions in the world today. EWI’s South Asia Initiative recognizes, that despite various challenges, there exists an opportunity to help pave the way for wider socio-economic cooperation between the countries of the region - to the benefit of the wider region.
To achieve our purpose, the institute focuses on establishing interactive dialogues, informing policy debates, and creating a platform for shared regional interests and peacebuilding objectives. Programmatic areas of interest include, among others, the dynamics of India-Pakistan bilateral relations; the U.S. strategy and policy towards South Asia; and China’s increasing economic engagement with the region.
