Dr. Lora Saalman co-authored the policy report The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road: Security Implications and Ways Forward for the European Union, along with SIPRI's Mr. Richard Ghiasy and Ms. Su Fei. This report explores the security dimensions of the sea-based component of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), as it traverses the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean. This report offers findings from over a year of desktop research and workshops in Manila, Yangon and Shanghai, with findings relevant for both European and non-European stakeholders.
