Daniel Bautista

Daniel Bautista was a Worldwide Security Fellow at EWI. Daniel holds a degree in law from the University of Salamanca, and master's degrees in International Politics and European Relations from the Law University of Amsterdam. In Madrid he gained his third master's degree in Political Action through a program jointly sponsored by Madrid University and Harvard University.

After preparing for two years for a career in the Spanish diplomatic services, Daniel was recruited to work as the youngest political adviser in the office of former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar, where he was in charge of international politics and counter-terrorism. As part of his political background Daniel has enjoyed several leading international and European positions, including President of the Youth of the European People's Party (YEPP), the largest under-35 political structure in Europe, from 2003-2005. In 2004 he was one of the youngest candidates in the elections to the EU Parliament.
