"Insurance companies are well aware of the threat landscape and write their coverage accordingly," says Bruce W. McConnell, EWI's Global Vice President, in an interview with FedScoop.

In a June 30 FedScoop article, McConnell commented on former Michigan GOP Rep. Michael Rogers' push for the U.S. government to publicly attribute cyber attacks.

Rogers proposed the implementation of a public attribution system as a means of developing a private sector cybersecurity insurance market. McConnell noted that such an approach "oversimplifies" the issue of cyber insurance.

Bruce McConnell, one of the world’s leading experts on cybersecurity, leads the EastWest Institute’s Global Cooperation in Cyberspace Initiative, working with governments and the private sector to make cyberspace safer and more secure. He also heads EWI’s San Francisco office, responsible for building and maintaining relationships in the American West and in the Asia-Pacific region.
