Sarah Stern is a former Acting Director of Communications in EWI’s New York office, working on all aspects of its communications platfom.

As a journalist, writer, editor and communications specialist, Sarah has spent her career writing, editing, and implementing public relations strategies for various publications, colleges, universities, and other nonprofit institutions. As a press officer at the New School, she created and implemented public relations strategies to promote the university’s eight schools and their interdisciplinary programs. She increased coverage in key markets including the New York Times, the New Yorker, Time Out, WNYC, NY1, and a host of social media sites. As a writer/editor at the Jewish Theological Seminary, she wrote and edited copy for publications and websites of the institution’s five schools and wrote speeches and remarks for members of the administration and honorees. As a freelance writer, editor, and public relations consultant, she had a diverse group of clients, including Bank Street College, Barnard College, the College of Mount Saint Vincent, Queens College, Teachers College, the Jewish Federations of North America, the Biological Research Institute, Camp Ramah, the American Banker, the Forward, and House of Business.

Sarah is a graduate of Barnard College and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She has won several writing awards, including the Metro New York Labor Press Council First Award for Outstanding Achievement in News Writing. She is a four-time winner of the Bronx Council for the Arts BRIO Award for Excellence in Poetry. Her new book of poems, But Today Is Differentwas recently released by Wipf and Stock Publishers. She is also the author of Another Word for Love, published by Finishing Line Press.
